Two research articles published for the Primates’ special issue ‘Twenty-five years of primate research in the Ndoki forests’:

  1. Population differences in alarm call order in putty-nosed monkeys (Cercopithecus nictitans) in rain forests of Ivory Coast and the Republic of Congo nicely highlight how biological field work and concepts from formal linguistics complementary interact to unravel the evolutionary relationship between animal communication and human language. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10329-024-01155-3
  2. Association rates between putty-nosed monkeys and 5 other primate species did not substantially vary across seasons but showed consistent group size effects, which gives novel insight into proximate mechanisms and ultimate functions of multispecies primate troops and advise to adjust conservation strategies.
